Mythic Dungeon Tools (MDT) WoW Addon — Install, Import Routes & Desktop Guide

Mythic Dungeon Tools (MDT) is the most powerful Mythic+ planning addon in World of Warcraft. With over 95 million downloads on CurseForge, it’s the standard tool used by everyone from casual dungeon runners to world-first Mythic+ pushers. MDT lets you map out every enemy in every dungeon, plan exactly which packs to pull, track your enemy forces progress, and share complete routes with your team — all before you ever step foot inside.

If you’re pushing keys in Retail WoW, MDT is essentially non-negotiable.

What Is Mythic Dungeon Tools?

MDT is a Mythic+ dungeon route planner built as a WoW addon. It gives you an interactive map of every dungeon with every single NPC placed at their exact in-game position. You click enemies to select them, group them into pulls, and build a complete route from start to finish.

The addon tracks your enemy forces percentage in real time as you plan, so you always know exactly when you’ll hit 100% without killing anything unnecessary. When your route is ready, you can share it with your party directly in-game with one click, or export it as a text string to share anywhere.

MDT was created by Nnoggie and is actively maintained for every current Mythic+ season.

Key Features

  • ✅ Interactive maps for every current Mythic+ dungeon
  • ✅ Full NPC positions including patrol paths
  • ✅ Enemy forces counter — know your % before you pull
  • ✅ Divide enemies into numbered pulls with visual color coding
  • ✅ Detailed enemy info — CC types, cast spells, dangerous abilities
  • Drawing and note tools on the map (toolbar)
  • Live mode — cooperative real-time route editing with your team
  • ✅ Route import/export via paste strings
  • Share routes in-game directly to party members
  • ✅ Affix-aware planning for the current week
  • ✅ MDT Legacy Plugin available for old expansion dungeons

How to Install MDT

Option 1 — CurseForge App (Recommended)

  1. Download and open the CurseForge App
  2. Select World of Warcraft (Retail)
  3. Search Mythic Dungeon Tools and click Install
  4. Launch the game — MDT is ready

Option 2 — Manual Install

  1. Download the latest file from CurseForge
  2. Extract the .zip file
  3. Copy the MythicDungeonTools folder to:
    World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\
  4. At the character select screen, click AddOns and confirm MDT is enabled

🎯 For old expansion dungeons: Install the MDT Legacy Plugin separately from CurseForge. It adds dungeon maps from previous expansions that aren’t included in the main addon.

How to Open and Use MDT

Type /mdt or /mythicdungeontools in chat to open the MDT window.

Basic workflow:

  1. Select your dungeon from the dropdown menu at the top of the MDT window
  2. The interactive map loads with all enemies shown
  3. Click enemies to add them to your route — they highlight and get numbered
  4. Use the pull divider tool to split enemies into separate pulls (right-click between groups)
  5. Watch the enemy forces bar fill up as you add enemies — stop when you hit your target %
  6. Add notes or drawings with the toolbar if needed
  7. Share or export the route when finished

How to Create and Save MDT Routes

MDT lets you save multiple routes per dungeon and switch between them easily.

To create a new route:

  • Open /mdt → select your dungeon → click New Route at the top
  • Name your route and start planning

To save a route:

  • Routes are saved automatically as you work — no manual save needed

To switch between saved routes:

  • Use the route dropdown at the top of the MDT window to switch between any saved routes for the current dungeon

To delete a route:

  • Select it from the dropdown → click the Delete button (trash icon)

How to Import MDT Routes

Importing a community route is the fastest way to get started in any dungeon without planning from scratch. Routes are shared as import strings — a long block of text you paste directly into MDT.

Step-by-step import:

  1. Find a route string — from Wago.io, Keystone.guru, Icy Veins, or a teammate
  2. Copy the entire import string
  3. Open /mdt in-game
  4. Click the Import button (arrow icon near the top)
  5. Paste the string with Ctrl+V
  6. Click Import to confirm
  7. The route appears on your map with all pulls mapped out

Best places to find MDT import routes:

Source What It’s Good For
Keystone.guru Community routes, Raider.IO heatmaps, route sharing
Icy Veins Weekly optimal routes from top M+ players
Wago.io Community uploads, class-specific routes
Discord / Guildmates Team-specific strategies

How to Export and Share MDT Routes

Export to a string (share externally):

  1. Open /mdt with your route loaded
  2. Click the Export button
  3. Copy the generated string
  4. Paste it anywhere — Discord, Keystone.guru, Wago.io, or a friend’s chat

Share in-game with party:

  1. Open /mdt with your route loaded
  2. Click Share (or the party share icon)
  3. Party members who also have MDT installed will receive a notification and can click to load your route instantly

Upload to Keystone.guru:

  1. Export your route string from MDT
  2. Go to keystone.guru and create an account
  3. Create a new route and paste your MDT string into the import field
  4. Add notes and share the link with your community

MDT Desktop — Planning Outside the Game

MDT is a WoW addon, not a standalone desktop application. However, you can plan routes completely outside the game using the web-based tool at Keystone.guru.

Keystone.guru works in any browser, supports full MDT import and export, and lets you:

  • Build routes with the same interactive dungeon maps
  • Browse community-created routes with Raider.IO heatmaps showing real player pathing
  • Plan cooperatively with your team online before a session
  • Export the finished route as an MDT string and import it in-game

This is the closest thing to a “desktop version” of MDT and is the tool used by most serious M+ teams for pre-session planning.

Live Mode — Real-Time Team Route Editing

One of MDT’s most powerful features is Live Mode, which lets your entire group edit a route together at the same time.

To use Live Mode:

  1. One player opens /mdt and clicks Live at the top
  2. They create a session and share the session code with teammates
  3. Teammates open /mdt, click Live, and join with the code
  4. Everyone can now see changes in real time — selecting enemies, moving pulls, drawing on the map

This is ideal for key prep sessions where your group wants to agree on a route before pulling.

Pros and Cons
