Oribos is the eternal capital city of the Shadowlands expansion and the central hub for all Shadowlands content. Whether you are heading there for the first time, farming old raids, chasing transmog, or just unlocking portals on an alt, this guide covers every route into Oribos – from Orgrimmar, Stormwind, and every Shadowlands zone, all the way from newer hubs like Valdrakken and Dornogal.
🎯 Quick rule to remember: you cannot use any portal to Oribos until you have completed the short Shadowlands intro quest chain (Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons) at least once on your account. After that, alts can skip straight to Oribos.
Before You Go: Shadowlands Intro Quest Requirement
Before any portal to Oribos becomes available, your character must unlock access to the Shadowlands. Here is how:
- First character ever: Pick up Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons from Highlord Darion Mograine (Horde – in front of Grommash Hold, Orgrimmar) or from High Inquisitor Whitemane (Alliance – Stormwind Keep). Complete the Maw intro scenario, then arrive in Oribos and finish A Doorway Through the Veil to permanently unlock the Oribos portal in your capital city.
- Alt skip: If the intro has been done on any character on your account, you can skip directly to Oribos. Talk to High Inquisitor Whitemane (Alliance) or General Nazgrim (Horde) and choose the skip option.
- Chromie Time: Visit Chromie at the Orgrimmar or Stormwind Embassy, select “The Realms of Death” timeline, and level through Shadowlands to naturally reach Oribos.
How to Get to Oribos from Orgrimmar
This is the fastest Horde route once the portal is unlocked.
- Enter the Orgrimmar Portal Room (the building just inside the main gate on the left – also called the Pathfinder’s Den).
- Find the Portal to Oribos on the main floor at roughly
/way 52, 35. - Click it and you’ll land directly in Oribos.
🎯 No portal showing? You need to complete A Doorway Through the Veil first. Pick up Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons from Highlord Darion Mograine in front of Grommash Hold to start the chain.
How to Get to Oribos from Stormwind – Without a Portal & With a Portal
With Portal (Fastest)
- Head to the Stormwind Portal Room inside the Mage Tower (Wizard’s Sanctum), located in the Mage Quarter.
- Go through the first portal at the entrance, then take the left fork.
- The Portal to Oribos is at the end of the right wall, right next to the portal to Boralus.
Without Portal (First Time / Quest Method)
If the portal is not yet unlocked:
- Talk to High Inquisitor Whitemane near Stormwind Keep to pick up Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons.
- Follow the quest chain through the Maw intro scenario.
- After arriving in Oribos and completing A Doorway Through the Veil, the portal in Stormwind’s Mage Tower will permanently appear.
How to Get to Oribos from Elysian Hold (Bastion Covenant Sanctum)
Elysian Hold is the Kyrian Covenant Sanctum in Bastion. Getting to Oribos from here is simple once you’ve unlocked the zone:
- Use the Kyrian Gateway network inside Bastion to fast-travel to the Vestibule of Eternity area.
- At the Vestibule of Eternity in Bastion, there is a Portal to Oribos – click it to return to the capital.
- Alternatively, use your Hearthstone if it is set to Oribos or use a Mage Portal.
⚡ The Bastion portal to Oribos unlocks automatically once you start questing in that zone.
How to Get to Oribos from Revendreth
Revendreth is the gothic vampire realm ruled by the Venthyr. It has its own permanent portal back to Oribos.
- Travel to Pridefall Hamlet in southern Revendreth.
- Find the Portal to Oribos there and click it.
- You can also use the Venthyr Ember Court portals or your Hearthstone if set to Sinfall or Oribos.
🎯 This portal becomes available after you begin questing in Revendreth.
How to Get to Oribos from The Maw
The Maw is Shadowlands’ most dangerous zone and has limited travel options.
- In The Maw, open your map and look for the Ve’nari’s Refuge area.
- There is a Portal to Oribos inside Ve’nari’s Refuge (becomes available after progressing the Chains of Domination – 9.1 campaign).
- Alternatively, jump into the Soul Pillar (the glowing blue beam in the center of Oribos’s Ring of Transference) – this takes you to The Maw, and the reverse path brings you back to Oribos.
- Use your Hearthstone if it is set to Oribos.
⚡ First time in The Maw? You must complete the intro scenario starting with Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons to unlock The Maw and get access to Oribos portals.
How to Get to Oribos from Bastion
- In Bastion, travel to the Vestibule of Eternity in the southwest of the zone.
- Use the Portal to Oribos located there.
- This portal unlocks as soon as you begin the Bastion storyline.
How to Get to Oribos from Ardenweald
- Travel to the Starlit Overlook in northeastern Ardenweald.
- Use the Portal to Oribos found at that location.
- Night Fae players can also use the Heart of the Forest portals – the Heart of the Forest also contains a Portal to Oribos.
How to Get to Oribos from Maldraxxus
- Head to the Bleak Redoubt area in Maldraxxus.
- Use the Portal to Oribos there to teleport back to the capital.
- Necrolord Covenant players can also access portals from the Seat of the Primus sanctum.
How to Get to Oribos from Sinfall (Revendreth Sanctum)
Sinfall is the Venthyr Covenant Sanctum located in Revendreth. To get to Oribos from here:
- From Sinfall, travel southeast to Pridefall Hamlet – the nearest portal hub in Revendreth.
- Use the Portal to Oribos at Pridefall Hamlet.
- Alternatively, use your Venthyr Ember Court Hearthstone if it is set to Sinfall, then mount to Pridefall Hamlet.
🎯 Venthyr players who joined the Covenant will find travel around Revendreth fastest using the Venthyr Infiltrator ability and the Anima conductor network.
How to Get to Oribos from Dornogal (The War Within)
Dornogal is the hub city of the current The War Within expansion. It has a direct portal to Oribos.
- In Dornogal, go to the Portal Room area.
- Find the Portal to Oribos – Wowhead confirms this portal object exists in Dornogal at 100 locations (it is very prominent).
- Click it for an instant teleport to Oribos.
⚡ This is one of the most convenient routes for current-patch players who are based out of Dornogal.
How to Get to Oribos from Goblin Camp / Undermine (The War Within)
The Undermine (also called the Goblin Camp zone) is part of The War Within expansion content (Patch 11.1). It also has access to a Portal to Oribos.
- In the Undermine zone, look for the portal hub area.
- A Portal to Oribos is present there (confirmed by Wowhead’s portal object data showing 15 locations in Undermine).
- Use it to travel directly to Oribos.
How to Get to Oribos from Zereth Mortis (Patch 9.2)
Zereth Mortis is the final zone of Shadowlands, added in Patch 9.2 (Eternity’s End). It has a locked portal that must be unlocked via questing.
First Time (Unlocking Access)
- Reach level 60 and join a Covenant.
- Complete the first chapter of your Covenant campaign.
- Accept Call of the Primus – this triggers automatically when you log in after completing the above requirements.
- Talk to Tal-Inara in Oribos, then travel through the portal to Zereth Mortis.
Returning to Oribos from Zereth Mortis
- Complete the quest This Old Waystone to permanently open the Zereth Mortis ↔ Oribos portal.
- Use the Portal to Oribos in the northern portion of the Ring of Transference (
/way 49.5 27.0on the 2nd floor of Oribos) to return anytime. - From Zereth Mortis, use the obelisk at Geometric Cavern (outside Haven) to portal back to Oribos.
How to Get to Oribos from Valdrakken / Dragon Isles (Dragonflight)
Valdrakken is the hub city of the Dragonflight expansion. It contains a Portal to Oribos in its portal room.
- In Valdrakken, locate the Portal Hub (on the upper level near the central plaza).
- Find the Portal to Oribos – Wowhead confirms 36 portal locations in Valdrakken.
- Click it to travel directly to Oribos.
⚡ You can also use the portal from Orgrimmar or Stormwind if you are already in Azeroth – both cities have portals to both Valdrakken and Oribos, so the fastest path depends on where you are.
How to Get to Oribos from Maldraxxus (Necrolord Sanctum)
The Seat of the Primus (Necrolord Sanctum) is located in southern Maldraxxus. From there:
- Mount up and ride to the Bleak Redoubt portal hub in Maldraxxus.
- Use the Portal to Oribos there.
- Necrolord players can also use the Abomination Factory transport network to speed up travel within the zone.

Setting Your Hearthstone in Oribos
The fastest recurring route to Oribos is to set your Hearthstone or the Eternal Traveler’s Hearthstone to Oribos. Talk to the innkeeper Caretaker Kah-Toll in the Hall of Holding (first floor of Oribos) to bind your Hearthstone there.
