Bloodmyst Isle is the second of the two Draenei isles off the western coast of Kalimdor, sitting just north of Azuremyst Isle and The Exodar. Once a lush Night Elf woodland, it was scarred red by crystal fallout from the crashed Exodar and is now the home of Blood Watch, the main Draenei leveling hub for characters around level 10-20 (retail level-scaling now stretches this to 1-30). This guide covers every way to reach Bloodmyst Isle in both Classic and Retail WoW, for Alliance and Horde alike.

How to Get to Bloodmyst Isle in WoW Retail
In retail WoW, the fastest path to Bloodmyst Isle always runs through The Exodar, since that’s where the Stormwind Portal Room and Mage portals drop you off.
From The Exodar (Alliance – Retail)
- Reach The Exodar using the Stormwind Portal Room or a Mage’s Portal: Exodar.
- Once inside, exit through the rear gate toward Valaar’s Berth on Azuremyst Isle.
- Take the flight path to Blood Watch, the main village on Bloodmyst Isle. If you already have a flying mount and Azeroth flying unlocked, you can simply fly north — the two islands are close enough that no fatigue zone applies.
🎯 Tip: Bloodmyst is one landmass-hop from Azuremyst, not a separate sea crossing. Once you’re on the Draenei isles, getting between them is quick.
From Stormwind (Alliance – Retail)
- Head to the Mage Quarter and enter the Wizard’s Sanctum (Portal Room).
- Take the Portal to Exodar.
- From The Exodar, follow the route above to Blood Watch.
As Horde in Retail
Bloodmyst Isle has no Horde questline, but the zone itself isn’t faction-locked for travel.
- Fly to Darkshore → Rut’theran Village: Take any Horde flight path to Darkshore (Lor’danel), then fly across to Rut’theran Village on Teldrassil.
- Board the western boat to Valaar’s Berth on Azuremyst Isle, then ride or fly north to Bloodmyst.
⚔️ Horde Warning: Alliance guards patrol Rut’theran Village and Blood Watch. Stay mounted, use line of sight, or bring a stealth option to avoid getting flagged.
How to Get to Bloodmyst Isle in TBC Classic / Classic WoW
In Classic versions, there’s no direct portal to Bloodmyst — every route funnels through Azuremyst Isle first.
From The Exodar (TBC Classic)
- Reach The Exodar via the boat from Auberdine or the Shattrath portal hub (see below).
- Exit south to Valaar’s Berth, then take the flight path or ride north along the coastal road to Blood Watch.
From Auberdine, Darkshore (TBC Classic)
- Travel to Auberdine, Darkshore, by flight path or boat from Darnassus.
- At the docks, board the western (middle) boat to Valaar’s Berth on Azuremyst Isle.
- From Valaar’s Berth, ride or fly north into Bloodmyst Isle and pick up the Blood Watch flight path for future trips.
From Shattrath City (TBC Classic)
If you’re already leveling in Outland, this is the quickest loop back:
- In Shattrath’s center ring, use the Alliance portal hub at /way 59, 47.
- Take the Portal to Exodar.
- Follow the Valaar’s Berth → Blood Watch route above.
🎯 Tip: Bind your Hearthstone at Blood Watch once you arrive — it makes farming the zone’s early quests and the Genesis Pool area far less tedious.
As Horde in TBC Classic
Horde has no legitimate route onto the Draenei isles. The only way in is sneaking onto the Auberdine boat:
- Reach Auberdine, Darkshore, carefully avoiding the high-level Alliance guards.
- Board the middle dock boat to Valaar’s Berth.
- From there, avoid patrols while making your way north to Bloodmyst.
⚔️ PvP Servers: This route is high-risk on PvP realms. Treat it as an exploration trip, not a questing destination — Bloodmyst has zero Horde-accessible quests.
How to Get to Bloodmyst Isle as a Draenei (Starting Zone)
If you’re leveling a fresh Draenei character, you won’t need a guide at all — Bloodmyst Isle is a natural continuation of the starting experience. After finishing Ammen Vale and Azure Watch on Azuremyst Isle, the quest The Kessel Run sends you by boat to Odesyus’ Landing on Bloodmyst, and from there the questline carries you to Kessel’s Crossing and Blood Watch automatically.
Why Visit Bloodmyst Isle?
- ✅ Leveling hub: Blood Watch is the central quest hub for Draenei characters roughly level 10-20 (scales 1-30 in retail).
- ✅ Unique NPCs and lore: Home to the corrupted Genesis Pool, the giant spider Zarakh, and the ghost dragon Razormaw on nearby Wyrmscar Island.
- ✅ Hunter pet farming: Several unusual tameable beasts spawn here, popular with Hunters looking for rare skins.
- ✅ Exploration achievement: Required for the Explorer’s Guide meta-achievement.
Can You Fly Directly to Bloodmyst Isle?
Yes, but only once you’re already on the Azuremyst Isles. Getting there from the Kalimdor mainland still requires a boat or portal, since the open sea between Kalimdor and the Draenei isles has fatigue zones that even max-speed flying mounts can’t cross safely. Once you’ve landed on Azuremyst or Bloodmyst, though, flying between the two islands is completely safe.
