Leatrix Maps Addon – Download, Install & Setup Guide for WoW Classic, TBC, WotLK & Retail

Leatrix Maps is a lightweight map enhancement addon for World of Warcraft that does exactly what the default map should have always done — it lets you reveal the entire world map, show coordinates, display dungeon icons, resize and reposition the map, and much more. With over 34 million downloads on CurseForge, it’s one of the most downloaded quality-of-life addons available.

It supports every version of WoW including Retail, TBC Classic Anniversary, WotLK Classic (3.3.5), WoW Classic Era, and Pandaria Classic — all from a single addon project.

What Is Leatrix Maps?

The default WoW world map is frustrating in a few ways — it hides unexplored areas behind fog of war, doesn’t always show coordinates, and can’t be easily resized or repositioned. Leatrix Maps fixes all of that.

Every setting in the addon is completely optional. You enable only what you want and leave the rest off. Nothing is forced on you. This makes it one of the cleanest and most non-intrusive map addons available for any version of WoW.

Key Features

  • Reveal the entire world map — removes fog of war across all zones
  • ✅ Show X/Y coordinates on the world map and minimap
  • ✅ Display dungeon and raid icons on the map with level ranges
  • Scale and reposition the map freely
  • Remove the map border for a cleaner look
  • Prevent zoom from resetting every time you open the map
  • ✅ Fade the map while moving (optional)
  • ✅ Enhance the battlefield map for PvP zones
  • ✅ Works on Retail, TBC Classic Anniversary, WotLK Classic, WoW Classic Era
  • ✅ Compatible with ElvUI (with a minor setting adjustment)

How to Install Leatrix Maps

Option 1 — CurseForge App (Recommended)

  1. Download and open the CurseForge App
  2. Select your WoW version (Retail, TBC Classic, WotLK, Classic Era, etc.)
  3. Search Leatrix Maps and click Install
  4. Launch the game — the addon is ready

⚠️ Important for Classic players: All versions of Leatrix Maps (Retail, TBC Classic, WotLK, Classic Era) are now under one CurseForge project. If you previously used a separate “Leatrix Maps Classic” project, uninstall the old version and reinstall from the main project page to get continued updates.

Option 2 — Manual Install

  1. Go to CurseForge and download Leatrix Maps
  2. Extract the .zip file
  3. Copy the Leatrix_Maps folder into your WoW AddOns directory:
    • TBC Classic: World of Warcraft\_classic_tbc_\Interface\AddOns\
    • WotLK Classic: World of Warcraft\_classic_\Interface\AddOns\
    • Classic Era: World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns\
    • Retail: World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\
  4. At the character select screen, click AddOns and make sure Leatrix Maps is enabled

How to Set Up Leatrix Maps

Open the settings panel by typing /ltm in chat. You can also use /leamaps as an alternative command.

From here you’ll see all available options — each one can be toggled individually. Here’s what each main setting does:

Setting What It Does
Reveal map Removes fog of war — shows all zones as if already explored
Show coordinates Displays X/Y coordinates on the world map
Show dungeon icons Marks dungeon and raid entrances with level info
Scale map Lets you resize the world map larger or smaller
Reposition map Unlocks the map so you can drag it anywhere on screen
Remove border Removes the decorative frame around the map
Remember zoom Keeps your zoom level when you reopen the map
Fade while moving Makes the map semi-transparent when your character is moving
Battlefield map Improves the map display inside PvP battlegrounds

🎯 Tip: Some settings have a small configuration button next to them inside the /ltm panel for additional sub-options — click those to fine-tune each feature.

Leatrix Maps for TBC Classic Anniversary & WotLK Classic (3.3.5)

Leatrix Maps is fully supported on TBC Classic Anniversary and WotLK Classic. The feature set is the same as Retail — map reveal, coordinates, dungeon icons, and scaling all work exactly the same way.

For WotLK Classic (3.3.5), all Northrend zones are supported including reveal data and dungeon icons for all Wrath dungeons and raids.

For TBC Classic Anniversary, the addon reveals all Outland zones and marks TBC dungeon/raid locations with correct level ranges.

⚠️ If you’re on Classic Era and previously had an older separate version of Leatrix Maps installed, you need to uninstall it completely and reinstall from the current unified CurseForge project to receive updates.

Leatrix Maps Not Working — How to Fix It

Map not revealing / fog of war still showing

  • Open /ltm and make sure the Reveal map option is turned on
  • Type /reload in chat after enabling it
  • If you recently updated WoW, reinstall the addon — sometimes patches break reveal data until the addon updates

Coordinates not showing

  • Open /ltm and enable Show coordinates
  • If coordinates appear on the map but not the minimap, check if another addon (like Leatrix Plus) is handling minimap coordinates separately

Addon not loading at all / not in addon list

  • Make sure you installed the correct version for your WoW client
  • A common mistake is installing the Retail version on Classic — Leatrix Maps now includes a version check that will notify you in chat if this happens
  • Enable Load Out of Date Addons at the character select screen if the addon shows as outdated

Map becoming unresponsive (ElvUI conflict)

  • If you use ElvUI alongside Leatrix Maps, there can be a conflict that makes the map unresponsive
  • Inside ElvUI settings, disable ElvUI’s Map module to let Leatrix Maps take full control
  • Alternatively, in /ltm, try enabling the Use default map option

Map stuck off-screen after repositioning

  • Type /ltm and look for a Reset position option, or disable and re-enable the reposition setting
  • Type /reload after resetting

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Extremely lightweight — very low memory and CPU usage
  • All settings are optional — fully modular
  • Single addon covers all WoW versions (no need for separate Classic/Retail installs)
  • One of the most reliable and consistently updated map addons available

Cons

  • No minimap enhancement features — focused on world map only (use Leatrix Plus for minimap tweaks)
  • ElvUI users may need extra setup to avoid conflicts
  • The map reveal feature may feel like “cheating” to some Classic purists
