Terokkar Forest sits right at the heart of Outland — and not just geographically. This zone is where your TBC Classic Anniversary journey shifts gears. You stop being a tourist rushing through the Dark Portal and start making decisions that shape your level-70 life: which faction do you pledge to, how do you set up Auchindoun runs, and how do you squeeze every point of Lower City rep while you’re still earning XP here?
This Terokkar Forest Leveling Guide covers everything you need to know about Terokkar Forest in the TBC Classic Anniversary 2026 — quest hubs, dungeon timing, reputation strategy, and how to exit the zone ready for what’s next.

First Things First: Set Up Shattrath City
Before you do a single quest in Terokkar, fly to Shattrath City and bind your Hearthstone there. This one decision saves you more time than any optimized quest route. Shattrath sits in the northwest of the zone and has portals to every major city — which means quick access to trainers, the auction house, and bank trips without ever leaving Outland.
Once you’re in Shattrath, pick up the quest A’dal from the Haggard War Veteran and take the short intro tour. At the end, you’ll choose between the Aldor and the Scryers. Don’t rush past this — it’s one of the most impactful decisions you’ll make in TBC.
Aldor vs Scryer: Quick Summary
| Aldor | Scryer | |
|---|---|---|
| Good For | Healers, Tanks | Casters, Rogues |
| Shoulder Enchant Focus | Stamina / Healing | Spell Damage / Crit |
| Reputation Items | Marks of Kil’jaeden | Signets of Thrallmar |
| Race Flavor | Draenei Priests | Blood Elf Defectors |
Both factions are tied to Shattrath and give shoulder inscriptions that you’ll actually use before raid gear takes over. Pick based on your class. And remember — switching later costs you rep, so choose once and commit.
🎯 Pro tip: Completing the A’dal chain and declaring allegiance also grants you ~1,750 Lower City reputation as a bonus. Do this early.
Quest Hubs and How to Route Them
Terokkar Forest has a lot of quests spread across a big zone. The players who get wrecked here are the ones who bounce between hubs without a plan. The players who fly through do it in loops — batch objectives by direction, turn them in together, and never cross the zone twice for one thing.
Alliance: Allerian Stronghold
Your home base as Alliance. This is where you accept the bulk of your early Terokkar quests — killing Bonechewer orcs at the ruins, dealing with Shadow Council activity at Grangol’var Village, and eventually pushing toward Firewing Point. The quests here are efficient and naturally lead you outward in a loop you can close without massive backtracking.
Horde: Stonebreaker Hold
Mirrors Allerian Stronghold in function. Same loop concept applies — pick up all available quests, go out in one direction, and return with a batch of completions. Horde players also have access to unique chains tied to orc lore in the zone.
Refugee Caravan (Central Road)
Both factions visit the Refugee Caravan in the Bone Wastes. This is a key mid-zone hub that ties into Auchindoun quest chains and Lower City reputation. Don’t skip it — the quest density here is high and several chains here feed directly into dungeon preparation.
The Bone Wastes
The scorched central wasteland surrounding Auchindoun. You’ll spend real time here killing Arakkoa, collecting bones, doing the Fumping quest (chaotic but fast with guard assistance), and setting up dungeon runs. The Bone Wastes also has five Spirit Towers — capturable PvP objectives.
⚡ Spirit Tower tip: If your faction controls all five towers, you and your group generate Spirit Shards inside Auchindoun dungeons. Those shards are a Lower City currency. It’s free rep if the towers are already capped — worth checking before a dungeon run.
Auchindoun: The Dungeon Complex
Auchindoun is a ruined Draenei holy city buried beneath the Bone Wastes. It contains four 5-man dungeons, all accessed through the same entrance structure in the center of the zone. This is the core of your Terokkar progression, and it’s worth understanding each wing before you just queue into whatever.
The Four Dungeons
| Dungeon | Rep Faction | Normal Level | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mana-Tombs | The Consortium | 64–66 | Good early run, Ethereal theme |
| Auchenai Crypts | Lower City | 64–66 | Lower City rep to Honored |
| Sethekk Halls | Lower City | 65–67 | Shadow Lab Key drops here |
| Shadow Labyrinth | Lower City | 68–70 | Main rep engine, Kara attunement |
🎯 Key item: The Shadow Labyrinth Key (required to enter Shadow Lab) drops from Talon King Ikiss inside Sethekk Halls. Get it before you need it.
Dungeon Timing: When to Run What
Don’t try to run Auchenai Crypts or Sethekk Halls at 63 — the mobs are 64–66 and bosses hit level 66. Enter Auchindoun when you’re 64+, and wait until 65 before pushing Sethekk seriously. Shadow Labyrinth is a 68+ dungeon and matters most for Karazhan attunement, not raw leveling XP.
The best use of Auchindoun while leveling through Terokkar is Mana-Tombs and Auchenai Crypts — stack the dungeon quests from outside the entrances, clear the wing, and turn everything in. One run with three stacked quests is worth far more than a clean solo quest loop.
Lower City Reputation: Don’t Leave Terokkar Without a Head Start
Lower City rep is the key to your Heroic Auchindoun dungeons, and the fastest way to build it is right here in Terokkar — while you’re already doing everything else.
How to Gain Lower City Rep
- Quests in Terokkar Forest and Shattrath — the biggest one-time chunks of rep you’ll ever get from Lower City. Do them all.
- Auchenai Crypts and Sethekk Halls (Normal) — grant rep up to Honored from mob kills.
- Shadow Labyrinth (Normal and Heroic) — the main long-term engine. Normal grants rep to Revered; Heroic goes to Exalted.
- Spirit Shards — collected in Auchindoun when your faction controls Bone Wastes towers. Turn them in for rep and rewards.
🎯 Goal while leveling: Reach at least Honored with Lower City before leaving Terokkar. You’ll build toward Revered through Shadow Labyrinth runs at 70.
Professions and Gathering in Terokkar
Herbalists have a strong reason to love Terokkar: Terocone grows here and is one of the most valuable herbs in the expansion — used in high-demand potions and flasks. If you have Herbalism, don’t rush through the forested areas. The nodes are fairly consistent and the gold-per-hour is solid even while you quest.
Miners will find Fel Iron and some Adamantite nodes, though Nagrand is better for sustained mining. Skinners will do fine throughout the zone — Bonelashers and various beasts skin well and the hides sell consistently on the auction house.
Quick Tips Before You Leave Terokkar
- ✅ Bind your Hearthstone to Shattrath immediately on arrival.
- ✅ Do the A’dal intro chain and choose Aldor or Scryer early — it grants bonus Lower City rep.
- ✅ Batch your quests by direction — don’t crisscross the zone.
- ✅ Stack dungeon quests before every Auchindoun run.
- ✅ Get the Shadow Labyrinth Key from Sethekk Halls before you need Shadow Lab.
- ✅ Check Spirit Towers before Auchindoun runs — free rep if your faction controls them.
- ❌ Don’t try Sethekk Halls at 63 — wait until 65.
- ❌ Don’t skip the Refugee Caravan quest chain — it feeds into Auchindoun setup.
- ❌ Don’t leave Terokkar without starting your Lower City rep grind.
Where to Go Next
Once you’re 65 and your Terokkar quests are cleaned up, move to Nagrand for levels 65–67. It’s one of the most quest-dense zones in Outland and the XP flows fast. If you’re focused on dungeons, you can keep running Sethekk Halls and build toward Shadow Lab — but Nagrand’s quests are usually the faster path for solo players.
