What Is Transmutation Master?
Transmutation Master is one of three Alchemy specializations available in TBC Classic. Once you have it, every transmute you perform has a chance to produce 1 to 4 bonus items for free — using the exact same materials as a single craft. On average, this works out to roughly a 17% increase in output over time. For a profession built around daily cooldowns, that’s a meaningful edge.
The other two specializations are Elixir Master and Potion Master. Each one focuses on a different type of craft. Transmutation Master specifically boosts transmutes — and nothing else.
Requirements
Before you can pick up the quest, make sure you meet both of these conditions:

How to Become a Transmutation Master
The quest chain is short but a bit expensive — especially early in a fresh economy. Here’s the step-by-step:
Step 1 — Pick Up the Quest in Hellfire Peninsula
Head to your faction’s Alchemy trainer in Hellfire Peninsula:
- ⚔️ Alliance: Alchemist Gribble in Honor Hold (coords: 53.8, 65.8)
- ⚔️ Horde: Apothecary Antonivich in Thrallmar (coords: 53.0, 35.6)
Accept the first part of the Master of Transmutation quest from them.
Step 2 — Travel to Netherstorm
Find Zarevhi at the Stormspire in Netherstorm (coords: 44.0, 36.6). Hand in the first part of the quest, then pick up part two from the same NPC.
Step 3 — Gather 4x Primal Might
This is where the cost comes in. Zarevhi requires you to bring him 4x Primal Might. Each Primal Might is itself crafted via transmute (requires Alchemy 350) from:
- 1x Primal Earth
- 1x Primal Water
- 1x Primal Air
- 1x Primal Fire
- 1x Primal Mana
You can craft them yourself or buy them off the Auction House. Either way, expect this to be the most expensive of the three specialization quests — especially at the start of a fresh TBC Anniversary phase.

Step 4 — Turn In and You’re Done
Hand the 4 Primal Mights to Zarevhi and you’ll receive the Transmutation Master specialization. That’s it.
Switching Specializations
Changed your mind? No problem. Just find the NPC where you learned your current specialization, pay 150g to unlearn it, then visit Zarevhi directly to pick up Transmutation Master — no quest required the second time around.
Best Daily Transmutes for Gold
Here’s where the real value is. Your daily transmute cooldown is a low-effort, reliable income stream. These are the three best options in TBC Classic Anniversary 2026:

Is Transmutation Master Worth It?
If you want to make gold with minimal daily effort, yes — this is the specialization for you. Primal Might is used in high-end crafting recipes and kept artificially scarce by the cooldown, which means supply stays controlled and prices hold up even in populated economies. The 17% average bonus proc rate means real extra income over weeks and months of play.
That said, if your guild is running lots of raids and you’re crafting huge volumes of flasks or potions, Elixir Master or Potion Master might pull ahead in raw gold value.
