Mechagon Island is a hidden gnomish isle northwest of Kul Tiras, introduced in BfA Patch 8.2 and one of the most content-rich legacy zones in the game. Like Nazjatar, it’s locked behind a quest chain — you can’t just fly or sail there fresh. But once unlocked, several fast travel options open up, and the routes from every major hub are straightforward.

Before You Go: Unlocking Mechagon
🎯 Mechagon has a two-step prerequisite: you must first unlock Nazjatar, then complete the short Mechagon intro quest chain.
Step 1 — Unlock Nazjatar First
Mechagon’s quest chain only becomes available after you have completed the Nazjatar intro questline — specifically after unlocking World Quests in Nazjatar. This means:
- Complete the BfA intro to reach Boralus (Alliance) or Dazar’alor (Horde)
- Reach Friendly with 3 home-continent factions
- Complete the War Campaign footholds
- Accept and complete Send the Fleet from Genn Greymane (Alliance) or Nathanos Blightcaller (Horde)
- Do enough Nazjatar quests to unlock World Quests in the zone
Step 2 — Pick Up The Legend of Mechagon
Once Nazjatar World Quests are unlocked, an NPC appears near the flight master in your BfA capital:
- ⚔️ Alliance: Speak with Tinkmaster Overspark near the Boralus flight master (coords ~67.4, 15.6) — pick up The Legend of Mechagon.
- ⚔️ Horde: Speak with Gazlowe near the Dazar’alor flight master (coords ~52.9, 43.3) — pick up the Horde version of The Legend of Mechagon.
Both quests send you to a vault in Tiragarde Sound, Kul Tiras. Follow the chain — it’s short, under 20 quests total — and you’ll arrive on Mechagon Island at Rustbolt, the Rustbolt Resistance’s hub. ✅ Mechagon unlocked.

How to Get to Mechagon from Boralus
Boralus is the fastest Alliance route to Mechagon — both for the initial unlock and for repeat visits.
Via Flight Path (After Unlock)
Once you have the Rustbolt flight point from doing the intro chain, you can fly directly from any Kul Tiras zone to Mechagon via the flight master. From Boralus specifically:
- Open the flight master in Boralus.
- Select Rustbolt, Mechagon from the list.
- You arrive at Rustbolt directly. ✅
Via Flying Mount (BfA Flying Unlocked)
If you have BfA Pathfinder and can fly in Kul Tiras:
- From Boralus, fly northwest into Drustvar.
- Continue flying northwest past the northern tip of Drustvar.
- Mechagon Island appears in the Great Sea — fly directly to Rustbolt. ✅
🎯 This is the most direct Alliance route — no portals, no ships, just fly.
How to Get to Mechagon from Stormwind
Via Portal Room → Boralus → Flight Path
- Go to the Stormwind Portal Room (Wizard’s Sanctum, Mage Quarter).
- Take the portal to Boralus.
- Use the Boralus flight master to fly to Rustbolt, Mechagon. ✅
Via Flying (Kul Tiras + BfA Pathfinder)
Alternatively from Stormwind, portal to Boralus, then fly northwest over Drustvar directly to Mechagon Island. No flight path needed once you’re airborne.
How to Get to Mechagon from Kul Tiras
Mechagon sits just northwest of Kul Tiras and is connected via flight paths to all three Kul Tiras zones once unlocked.

How to Get to Mechagon from Orgrimmar
Horde travel to Mechagon routes through Dazar’alor and uses a special NPC.
Via Portal Room → Dazar’alor → Captain Krooz
- Use the Orgrimmar portal room (Pathfinder’s Den) to portal to Dazar’alor / Zuldazar.
- In Dazar’alor, head to the docks in the southeastern area (near the Grand Bazaar — coords ~41.9, 87.6).
- Find Captain Krooz on her submarine The Greasy Eel. She’s easy to miss — she sits on the shoulder of a nearby oaf at the waterfront.
- Speak with her and select “Take me to Mechagon.” ✅ Instant teleport to Rustbolt.
🎯 Captain Krooz is the Horde’s permanent fast travel to Mechagon — no cooldown, available any time after unlocking the zone.
How to Get to Mechagon from Dazar’alor
Dazar’alor is the fastest Horde route to Mechagon thanks to Captain Krooz.
Via Captain Krooz at the Docks
- In Dazar’alor, go to the southeastern docks (Grand Bazaar area).
- Find Captain Krooz at coords 41.9, 87.6 — she’s near the waterfront next to The Greasy Eel submarine.
- Select “Take me to Mechagon.” ✅
This is a direct, instant teleport. No quest needed after the initial unlock.
How to Get to Mechagon from Zandalar / Zuldazar
Zandalar is the Horde continent in BfA. All Mechagon travel from Zandalar routes through Dazar’alor.

Alliance — From Nazjatar to Mechagon
- Use the portal in Mezzamere (Alliance hub) → takes you to Boralus.
- From Boralus, use the flight master → fly to Rustbolt, Mechagon. ✅
Horde — From Nazjatar to Mechagon
- Use the portal in Newhome (Horde hub) → takes you to Dazar’alor.
- Walk southeast to the docks and speak with Captain Krooz → teleport to Mechagon. ✅
How to Get to Mechagon from Dornogal
Dornogal is the hub city for The War Within. Its portal room connects to older expansions.
Alliance — Via Dornogal Portal Room
- In Dornogal, go to the portal room.
- Take the portal to Boralus or Stormwind.

Ultrasafe Transporter: Mechagon (Craftable Item)
This consumable teleports you directly to Mechagon from anywhere in the world. It’s crafted through the Junkyard Tinkering system in Mechagon after unlocking the blueprint.

Operation: Mechagon Dungeon Summoning Stone
The Operation: Mechagon dungeon has a summoning stone outside its entrance in Rustbolt. Two players in the zone can summon a third player directly — even one who hasn’t unlocked Mechagon yet (though they’ll have limited access to quests without the unlock).
Mechagnome Allied Race Teleporter (Stormwind Embassy)
If you’re working toward unlocking Mechagnomes, there’s a teleporter in the Stormwind Embassy that can port you to Mechagon City — useful specifically during the allied race questline.
Mechagon on Alts — What You Need to Know
The Mechagon unlock is not account-wide. Each alt must complete the prerequisite chain. However, some steps carry over:

Once you arrive at Rustbolt, the Rustbolt Resistance’s base, the island opens up:
