This is the most direct overland route for Alliance players:
- Head east out of Ironforge through Dun Morogh.
- Continue into Loch Modan.
- Follow the road north through the Dun Algaz pass, which leads straight into the Wetlands.
How to Get to the Wetlands from Dun Morogh
Dun Morogh technically borders the Wetlands directly to the north, but there’s no maintained road connecting them at that border — the standard path still detours through Loch Modan:
- From wherever you are in Dun Morogh, head toward Ironforge (or straight east if you’re already past it).
- Continue into Loch Modan, then follow the road north through the Dun Algaz pass into the Wetlands.
How to Get to the Wetlands from Darkshore
Darkshore has a direct boat connection to the Wetlands, making this one of the more convenient sea routes:
- Head to Auberdine, the main port town in Darkshore.
- Take the boat that sails directly to Menethil Harbor on the Wetlands’ coast.
This is generally faster than the overland route through Ironforge if you’re already on that side of Kalimdor.
How to Get to the Wetlands from Darnassus
Darnassus doesn’t have a direct boat to the Wetlands, so you’ll route through Darkshore first:
- Take the boat from Darnassus to Rut’theran Village on Teldrassil (or ride out if already on the mainland side).
- Travel to Auberdine in Darkshore.
- Board the boat from Auberdine to Menethil Harbor.
How to Get to the Wetlands from Stormwind
Stormwind doesn’t border the Wetlands directly, so the fastest route goes through Ironforge:
- Take the tram in Tinker Town to Ironforge.
- From Ironforge, follow the Dun Morogh → Loch Modan → Dun Algaz route above.
Alternatively, a high-level Mage friend can portal you straight to Ironforge if you’d rather skip the tram ride.
How to Get to the Wetlands from Arathi Highlands
This is the main entry point from the east:
- From Hammerfall in Arathi Highlands, head south/southwest to the large bridge known as the Thandol Span.
- Cross the bridge — the Wetlands begin on the other side.
How to Get to the Wetlands from Undercity
There’s no direct portal or boat connecting Undercity to the Wetlands, so Horde characters take the long way around:
- From Undercity, head into Silverpine Forest.
- Continue through Hillsbrad Foothills.
- Move into Arathi Highlands, then south to the Thandol Span bridge into the Wetlands.
This route is entirely overland and passes through several contested zones, so travel carefully at lower levels.
How to Get to the Wetlands from Orgrimmar
Since Orgrimmar is on a different continent, you’ll need to cross over first:
- Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Undercity.
- From there, follow the Silverpine → Hillsbrad → Arathi Highlands → Thandol Span route above.
Getting There by Boat
Alliance players can also reach Menethil Harbor, the Wetlands’ coastal town, by boat:
- A boat connects Theramore Isle to Menethil Harbor.
- Night elf players historically used a boat from Auberdine as well, before Cataclysm changed some of the old shipping routes.
🐉 Retail: Flying Straight In
Once your character has an old-world flying mount, none of the ground routes above are strictly necessary:
- Simply fly directly from Loch Modan, Arathi Highlands, or Dun Morogh into the Wetlands.
- Flight paths exist at Menethil Harbor and, since Cataclysm, at Dun Modr and the night elf outpost of Greenwarden’s Grove as well.
