How to get to Telogrus Rift is a different kind of question than most travel guides, because this zone isn’t a normal hub city — it’s race-locked. Telogrus Rift is the shattered, void-infused starting area for Void Elves, and outside of the recruitment scenario, only Void Elf characters can travel there freely. This guide covers unlocking Void Elves, the two permanent portal locations, and what non-Void Elves can (and can’t) do. 🎯
What Is Telogrus Rift?
Telogrus Rift is a fragmented, void-corrupted world floating in space, added in Legion patch 7.3.5. It’s home to the ren’dorei — the Void Elves — led by Magister Umbric and Alleria Windrunner, and it serves as their Allied Race starting scenario and permanent home base.
Do You Need to Unlock Void Elves First?
Yes, but the requirements are much lighter than they used to be. Blizzard has removed the old reputation gates over time:
- ✅ You need a level 40+ Alliance character.
- ✅ Start the recruitment questline at the Stormwind Embassy, beginning with Telogrus Rift.
- ✅ Complete the short scenario alongside Alleria Windrunner, which takes place inside Telogrus Rift itself.
- 🎯 The old requirements of Exalted reputation with the Argussian Reach and the You Are Now Prepared! achievement were both removed in earlier patches — you no longer need to grind Argus reputation to unlock this race.
Once the scenario is finished, Void Elves become available at the character creation screen, and your Void Elf characters can freely visit Telogrus Rift going forward.
How to Get to Telogrus Rift from Stormwind
Void Elf characters have a permanent portal available:
- 1️⃣ Head to the Stormwind Embassy in the northern part of the city, near the Cathedral District.
- 2️⃣ Look for the Rift to Telogrus portal among the other Allied Race embassy portals.
- 3️⃣ Click it to travel straight to Telogrus Rift.
How to Get to Telogrus Rift from Dalaran (Legion)
This route also works for Void Elf characters:
- 1️⃣ Take a portal to Dalaran (Legion) — from Stormwind, this is in the Mage Quarter portal room.
- 2️⃣ Head to the Chamber of the Guardian.
- 3️⃣ Find the Rift to Telogrus portal near the center of the room.
- 4️⃣ Click it to arrive in Telogrus Rift.
Can Non-Void Elves Visit Telogrus Rift?
Not through a normal portal — there’s no version of the Rift to Telogrus portal available to other races. If you’re not playing a Void Elf, you have two workarounds:
- 🎯 Party Sync: Group with a Void Elf character and use Party Sync to phase into Telogrus Rift alongside them.
- 🎯 Scenario Replay: If Void Elves are already unlocked on your account, you can sometimes revisit the original recruitment scenario, which takes place in Telogrus Rift.
Quick Reference: Getting to Telogrus Rift
| Character Type | Method | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Void Elf (unlocked) | Rift to Telogrus portal in Stormwind Embassy | Fastest permanent route |
| Void Elf (unlocked) | Dalaran (Legion) → Chamber of the Guardian portal | Alternate route |
| Any Alliance character (unlocking) | Recruitment questline from Stormwind Embassy | Only path for first-time access |
| Non-Void Elf, race already unlocked | Party Sync with a Void Elf | No solo portal access |
Tips for Void Elf Players
- ⚡ Set your Hearthstone to Telogrus Rift — it has portals to both Stormwind and Dalaran, making it a convenient home base.
- 🎯 You’ll likely need to return to Telogrus Rift again around level 50 for a Heritage Armor unlock quest, so keep the portal location in mind.
- ✅ The Argussian Reach reputation is no longer required, but Void Elf characters do start Friendly with that faction if you want the associated rewards later.
