Gold matters on Ascension WoW just as much as it does anywhere else — mounts, profession materials, gear upgrades, and Auction House flips all rely on a steady income. The good news is Ascension has several gold-making systems layered on top of standard WoW farming, some of which don’t exist on other servers at all. Here’s what actually works.
Call Board Dailies: The Most Reliable Gold Source
The Call Board is Ascension’s daily quest hub, and it’s widely considered one of the best consistent gold sources in the game. Completing daily quests through the Call Board rewards gold, materials, and progress toward loot boxes — and PvE Call Board dailies in particular can be repeated efficiently if you group up near a quest cluster and hand them in on repeat.
A few tips that make this method far more efficient:
- Group up. Random groups work just as well as organized ones — everyone benefits from clearing the same quest cluster together.
- Consider a Portable Call Board. This is a purchasable convenience item from the Ascension store that lets you turn in Call Board quests without traveling back to a capital city, which cuts a lot of downtime out of the loop.
- Prioritize gathering professions like Mining, Herbalism, or Skinning for extra Call Board rewards and raw material income on top of the quest payout.
High-Risk Farming: The Endgame Meta
For players comfortable with open-world PvP risk, High-Risk farming is generally considered the strongest gold-per-hour method at max level. When High Risk is enabled, you get a loot tier buff tied to your current item level (the higher your gear, the better your loot chances), which stacks on top of whatever you’re farming.
Commonly farmed High-Risk spots include:
- Western Plaguelands (Hearthglen) — strong for vendor trash and epic/material drops, though it’s a heavily contested PvP zone, so it’s best for confident PvPers rather than beginners.
- Blasted Lands — less populated with lower gold-per-hour than Plaguelands, but easier vendoring and mailing logistics for both factions.
- Silithus (Southwind Village) — a smaller, low-population spot that’s comparatively easy to handle in terms of mob damage, with a vendor right on site.
For AoE farming, look for a build with strong crowd control tools (slows, stuns, knockbacks) to manage packs of mobs without getting overwhelmed — many farmers favor AoE caster builds for exactly this reason.
Professions and Crafting
Beyond direct farming, crafting professions can be a steady secondary income stream:
- Gem crafting — watch the Auction House for cheap raw gem materials, craft them into finished gems, and resell for profit.
- Tailoring — crafted cloth and bags can sell well, though certain recipes are limited by daily cooldowns.
- Transmutes, flasks, and elixirs — transmutes are capped per day, but flasks and elixirs are limited only by your material stockpile, making them a good ongoing income source if you keep materials flowing.
Rare Mob Hunting
Some players supplement their income by hunting rare spawns, particularly at higher level ranges, since rares have a better chance of dropping valuable loot. This method benefits from tracking addons (commonly discussed in the Ascension Discord’s addons channels) and known spawn locations, though it’s inherently more luck-based than a fixed farming route.
Auction House Flipping
Checking Auction House prices regularly and reselling underpriced materials, gear, or crafted goods is a lower-effort way to supplement your farming income. Prices shift with new content patches and general inflation, so this method rewards players who check the market often rather than relying on stale price knowledge.
Quick Tips for Better Gold Farming
- Loot everything. Even gray vendor trash adds up fast with a good AoE farming build.
- Manage your risk. If you’re farming in High-Risk zones, consider a disposable gear set so a loss doesn’t hurt as much.
- Join an active guild for shared farming spots, group runs, and up-to-date economy info.
- Watch patch notes. New content and balance changes shift which farms are actually worth your time.
