Questie on Ascension WoW: Setup & Compatibility Guide

If you’ve played Classic or WotLK private servers before, Questie is probably muscle memory at this point — quest markers on the map, objective tracking, the works. But Ascension WoW isn’t a normal 3.3.5 server, and that causes real problems for standard Questie. Here’s what actually works.

Why Regular Questie Doesn’t Work Properly on Ascension

Ascension runs on the WoW 3.3.5 client, so in theory any addon built for that version should work. In practice, quest-helper addons like Questie rely on predefined game data, and Ascension’s world is full of custom quests, NPCs, and content that standard Questie databases simply don’t know about. How to Install an Ascension Questie Fork

3. Extract the folder into Interface/AddOns/. If prompted, rename the extracted folder so it’s recognized correctly (some forks require the folder to simply be named “Questie”).

A Safer Alternative: The Ascension Launcher’s Addon Tab

Ascension officially recommends sourcing addons primarily through the launcher’s built-in Addon tab, since those are vetted and kept compatible by the Ascension team. Not every Questie fork is guaranteed to be listed there, so if you don’t see an Ascension-compatible Questie option in the launcher, downloading directly from a trusted community GitHub repo (like the ones above) is the standard workaround — just be cautious about sourcing addons from anywhere outside the launcher or well-known community links.

Tips for a Smoother Questie Experience
