Making gold in TBC Classic Anniversary isn’t complicated — but picking the wrong professions early can leave you struggling to afford Epic Flying at 5,000 gold, let alone your BiS enchants and consumables. The profession economy in TBC is one of the most active in any version of WoW Classic, and knowing which crafting paths actually pay off is half the battle.
This guide covers the best professions for gold-making in TBC Classic Anniversary, how to use each one effectively, and what to focus on at each phase of the expansion.
For help choosing professions based on your class rather than gold income, see our TBC Classic Best Professions for Each Class guide.

Top Professions for Making Gold in TBC Classic Anniversary
Jewelcrafting
Jewelcrafting is the single most powerful gold-making profession in TBC Classic Anniversary. Every piece of gear has gem sockets, which means demand for gem cuts never stops — it only grows as players progress through phases and upgrade their equipment.
The real money is in rare-quality gem cuts. Players who have advanced recipes for popular cuts can charge premium prices on the Auction House, especially for gems like Runed Living Ruby (spell power) and Bold Living Ruby (Strength), which are in constant demand from casters and physical DPS respectively.
A couple of things to keep in mind: Jewelcrafting requires a decent starting investment. You’ll need gold to buy Adamantite Ore for Prospecting, and some of the best recipes are locked behind reputation grinds or limited drops. Once you have those recipes, though, the income is reliable and scales with each new gear tier that releases.
🎯 Tip: Learn which gem cuts are most popular on your server and prioritize those recipes first. One or two in-demand cuts will generate more consistent income than having a dozen mediocre ones.

Alchemy
Alchemy is the most consistently profitable profession across every phase of TBC Classic Anniversary. Raid consumables are mandatory in serious groups — flasks and potions get used every single raid night, which means Alchemists have returning customers every week without needing to hunt for buyers.
The three main income streams for Alchemists are:
Raid Consumables. Flask of Blinding Light, Flask of Fortification, and Super Mana Potion sell consistently throughout every phase. Raid reset days are when demand peaks — craft and list in bulk on those days.
Transmute Cooldowns. The daily transmute is pure passive income. Primal Might is one of the most profitable options, used in numerous high-value crafting recipes. Skyfire Diamond and Earthstorm Diamond transmutes are also solid earners.
Specialization Procs. Choosing Potion Master or Elixir Master gives you a chance to proc extra items when crafting in bulk. This adds up to meaningful extra gold over time with no additional material cost.
🎯 Tip: Pair Alchemy with Herbalism while leveling to fund your own materials. Once you hit 70, switch to buying cheap herbs and selling finished consumables at peak demand — the margins improve significantly.
See our TBC Classic Alchemy Guide for more detail on specializations and which transmutes are worth doing daily.
Enchanting
Enchanting generates gold in two main ways: selling enchanting services and disenchanting unwanted gear into materials.
For services, the most in-demand enchants are weapon and armor enchants that raiders need before progression. Listing your services in trade chat or charging a tip on top of material costs is the standard approach. The income is reliable because enchants are consumed — every new piece of gear a player gets needs a fresh enchant.
Disenchanting is where the passive income comes from. Every green or blue item you don’t need becomes Enchanting materials, which sell steadily on the AH without any effort beyond listing them.
✅ The unique bonus for Enchanters is the Enchant Ring – Spellpower and similar ring enchants, which are exclusive to the Enchanter. These can’t be sold, but they’re a permanent personal power boost worth accounting for when comparing professions.
Our TBC Classic Enchanting Guide has a full list of the most profitable enchants to offer.
Tailoring
Tailoring’s gold-making potential comes almost entirely from cloth cooldowns. The three specializations — Mooncloth, Shadoweave, and Spellfire — each let you produce a specialty cloth on roughly a 4-day cooldown, and specialists produce double the output.
In early phases, this cloth is used to craft BiS pre-raid sets that casters desperately want. The demand is highest at the start of a new phase, when players are gearing up and willing to pay top gold for the materials needed to craft those sets.
🎯 Tip: Stock up your cooldown-crafted cloth before a major phase transition and sell it on launch day or the first week of the new tier. Prices spike hard and then normalize — timing your sales matters more than volume here.

Gathering Professions (Herbalism, Mining, Skinning)
Gathering professions are the easiest gold-makers to get started with — no crafting required, just farm and sell. The tradeoff is that they’re more affected by server competition and bot activity, which can drive down prices on high-volume materials.
Herbalism is the most valuable gathering profession because herbs are used by Alchemists in massive quantities every week. High-demand herbs like Dreaming Glory, Felweed, and Terocone sell steadily throughout the expansion. Our TBC Classic Herbalism Farming Guide covers the best routes in Outland.
Mining provides the ore and primals that Blacksmiths and Jewelers need constantly. Adamantite Ore is particularly valuable because it’s used for Prospecting, and Fel Iron is always needed early in the expansion. Check the TBC Classic Mining Farming Guide for optimized routes.
Skinning is the most straightforward — kill beasts, skin them, sell leather. The income is consistent but lower than the other two gathering options. It pairs well with classes that kill beasts regularly like Hunters and Druids.
Gold-Making Strategy by Phase
Phase 1 (Karazhan / Gruul’s / Magtheridon) is when consumable demand is highest and the economy is freshest. Alchemy and Tailoring cooldowns are especially strong here because players are spending heavily on BiS crafted gear and raid consumables.
As the expansion progresses into Phase 2 and beyond, Jewelcrafting becomes increasingly dominant because new gear tiers mean players constantly need new gem cuts. Enchanting also holds its value well because every gear upgrade needs a fresh enchant.
Gathering professions are most profitable at the start of each phase when demand for materials spikes and supply hasn’t caught up yet. This is the window where herb and ore prices are highest — farm aggressively in the first week of each new phase.
