Is Elemental Worth Leveling in TBC Classic Anniversary?

Yes — with one honest caveat: mana. Elemental Shaman burns through mana fast, especially in the early levels. You’ll be drinking between pulls more often than Enhancement players, and your kill speed before level 40 is slower. If you accept that and prepare accordingly (always have water, manage cooldowns proactively), the spec is genuinely fun to level.

The situation improves significantly at level 40 when you unlock Elemental Mastery and Lightning Mastery. Elemental Focus gives you a proc called Clearcasting after any spell crit, reducing the mana cost of your next two spells by 40%. When it procs, always spend it on your most expensive spell — Chain Lightning or Lightning Bolt. Never waste it on Earth Shock.

Eye of the Storm reduces spell pushback when you take damage. This matters a lot while leveling because mobs hit you during Lightning Bolt casts, which delays them and wastes time. Three points here smooth out the experience significantly.

Lightning Mastery at 35–39 is huge. It cuts Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning cast times by 0.5 seconds at max rank — that’s a 20%+ increase in your casting speed and one of the biggest DPS upgrades in the entire build.

Always carry water. Stock up every time you’re near a vendor. Running dry and having no water is one of the most avoidable slowdowns while leveling.

Use Elemental Mastery and Elemental Focus procs on expensive spells. Wasting a free-cast proc on an Earth Shock instead of a Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning is a real mana loss over time.

Drink during travel. If you’re running between quest objectives, drink during that movement. Mana potions are cheap and worth keeping on hand for tough fights.

Drop Mana Spring Totem when staying in one area. It regenerates mana passively during combat and between pulls. In dense quest areas where you’re pulling frequently, it adds up.
