Leveling Alchemy in TBC Classic Anniversary from 1 to 375 is one of the most straightforward profession grinds in the game — if you plan your materials ahead of time. The biggest mistake players make is starting without enough herbs and having to constantly restock mid-session. This guide gives you the full path, a complete shopping list, and the exact recipes to follow so you can push 375 in one focused session.
For a full breakdown of what Alchemy does, specializations, and endgame uses, see the TBC Classic Alchemy Guide.
Before You Start: Key Tips
🎯 Pair with Herbalism if possible — farming your own herbs saves significant gold and makes the entire leveling process nearly free. Druids are especially efficient thanks to Flight Form herb gathering.
🎯 Buy materials in bulk before you start — herb prices fluctuate, and having everything ready means you won’t be stuck waiting on Auction House restocks mid-grind.
🎯 Yellow recipes don’t guarantee skill-ups — add 10–20% buffer to the material estimates below. RNG can go either way.
🎯 Classic herbs can be stocked before the pre-patch — everything from Peacebloom to Dreamfoil is available in Azeroth. Get them before prices spike when TBC launches.
Complete Materials Shopping List (1–375)
Stock these before you start. Everything before Dreamfoil comes from Classic zones. Outland herbs are only needed for the 300–375 push.

Outland Herbs (300–375):

| Dreaming Glory | 60 |
| Ragveil | 50 |
| Ancient Lichen | 40 |
| Netherbloom | 40 |
| Nightmare Vine | 50 |
| Terocone | 30 |
Vials: You’ll need Leaded Vials (1–300) and Imbued Vials (300–375). Buy stacks from any reagent vendor.
Leveling Path: 1–300 (Classic Alchemy)
You can learn Alchemy from trainers in any major city. Train up to Artisan rank at level 35 to push to 300.
1 – 60
Craft Minor Healing Potion — Peacebloom x1, Silverleaf x1, Leaded Vial x1. Make at least 65 of these since they’re needed in the next step.
60 – 110
Craft Healing Potion — Briarthorn x1, Bruiseweed x1, Leaded Vial x1. The recipe goes yellow around 90, so expect some failed skill-ups.
110 – 140
Craft Lesser Mana Potion — Mageroyal x1, Stranglekelp x1, Leaded Vial x1. This recipe is yellow from the start of this range, budget for 15–18 crafts.
140 – 155
Craft Elixir of Agility — Stranglekelp x1, Goldthorn x1, Leaded Vial x1. Alternative: Elixir of Wisdom — Mageroyal x1, Khadgar’s Whisker x1, Leaded Vial x1.
155 – 185
Craft Elixir of Greater Defense — Kingsblood x1, Goldthorn x1, Leaded Vial x1. Goldthorn can be expensive — swap to Elixir of Agility if Goldthorn is overpriced on your server.
185 – 210
Craft Elixir of Detect Undead — Arthas’ Tears x1, Crystal Vial x1. This is cheap and efficient. Make as many as you need.
210 – 230
Craft Superior Healing Potion — Sungrass x1, Khadgar’s Whisker x1, Crystal Vial x1. Fifteen crafts should comfortably cover this range.
230 – 265
Continue with Elixir of Detect Undead — Arthas’ Tears x1, Crystal Vial x1. This is one of the cheapest recipes in this bracket and stays orange for a long time.
265 – 285
Craft Superior Mana Potion — Sungrass x2, Blindweed x2, Crystal Vial x1. These can actually be sold on the Auction House to offset costs.
285 – 300
Craft Major Healing Potion — Golden Sansam x2, Mountain Silversage x1, Crystal Vial x1.
⚡ Shortcut option: Buy Recipe: Greater Arcane Protection Potion from Magnus Frostwake at Caer Darrow in Western Plaguelands. This recipe uses Dream Dust x1, Dreamfoil x1, and Crystal Vial x1 — very cheap materials — and can carry you all the way to skill 340 by itself.
Leveling Path: 300–375 (Master Alchemy / Outland)
Step through the Dark Portal and visit your Master Alchemy trainer first:
- Alliance: Alchemist Gribble — Honor Hold, Hellfire Peninsula
- Horde: Apothecary Antonivich — Thrallmar, Hellfire Peninsula
300 – 315
Craft Volatile Healing Potion — Golden Sansam x1, Felweed x1, Imbued Vial x1. Alternative: Adept’s Elixir — Dreamfoil x1, Felweed x1, Imbued Vial x1.
315 – 325
Craft Elixir of Draenic Wisdom — Ragveil x2, Felweed x1, Imbued Vial x1. If you have excess Ragveil, this is your most cost-efficient option here.
Alternative: Mad Alchemist’s Potion — Ragveil x2, Imbued Vial x1.
325 – 340
Craft Super Healing Potion — Netherbloom x2, Felweed x1, Imbued Vial x1. This range is slow — the recipe goes yellow quickly. Be patient and keep crafting.
⚡ If you grabbed the Greater Arcane Protection Potion recipe earlier, use it here instead and ride it to 340.
340 – 350
Craft Elixir of Major Shadow Power — Ancient Lichen x1, Nightmare Vine x1, Imbued Vial x1. This recipe requires Revered with Lower City to purchase from Nakodu in Shattrath. If you have the rep, this is worth buying because the elixirs sell well (Shadow Priests and Warlocks use them for raiding).
If you don’t have the rep yet, use Super Healing Potion or Mad Alchemist’s Potion to push through.
350 – 360
Craft Major Dreamless Sleep Potion — Dreaming Glory x1, Nightmare Vine x1, Imbued Vial x1.
🎯 Horde players: Buy Recipe: Major Dreamless Sleep Potion from Daga Ramba. Alliance players can buy it from Leeli Longhaggle.
360 – 375
Craft Elixir of Major Agility — Dreaming Glory x2, Terocone x1, Imbued Vial x1. This is one of the more expensive recipes to finish — but it’s also very sellable since Rogues, Hunters, and Feral Druids want it. Recoup some costs by selling what you craft.
Alternative for the last stretch: Fel Strength Elixir — Felweed x2, Ancient Lichen x1, Imbued Vial x1.
Reaching 375: What’s Next?
Once you hit 375, you’re ready to start your Mastery questline. At level 68 and 325 skill (which you passed long ago), all three specialization quests become available:
- Potion Master — easiest quest, recommended for most players to complete first
- Elixir Master — requires multiple Black Morass runs for Essence of Infinity
- Transmutation Master — requires 4x Primal Might, expensive at expansion launch
The smart play is to complete Potion Master first since the quest is straightforward and cheap, then pay 150 gold to switch to your preferred specialization later. You don’t have to redo the quest — just pay the 150g fee and pick whichever spec you actually want.
